Anik Jean is a multifaceted Canadian artist renowned for her contributions to music, film, and literature. Born on April 11, 1977, in Bonaventure, Quebec, she has established herself as a singer-songwriter, actress, director, and author.

Music Career

Anik’s musical journey began at a young age, inspired by a David Bowie concert she attended with her mother. She quickly learned to play guitar and piano, setting the stage for her debut album, Le Trashy Saloon, released in 2005. The album featured the hit single “Je suis partie,” which garnered significant radio play in Quebec. Her subsequent albums, including Le ciel saigne le martyre (2008) and Anik Jean (2010), showcased her evolving style and musical depth. Notably, the single “J’aurai tout essayé,” a duet with Robert Smith of The Cure, remained atop the charts for nearly a year.

Film and Television

Beyond music, Anik has made notable contributions to film and television. She composed the soundtrack for the Canadian box office hit Bon Cop Bad Cop 2 (2017), earning the SOCAN Film Music Award in 2019. Her directorial debut, Les hommes de ma mère, was released in 2023.

Literary Works

Anik has also ventured into literature, authoring children’s books such as Nathan in the Land of Pirates (2020) and Nathan at the Bottom of the Ocean (2021).
